Your Information is Money… Be Careful: KTBA Chief Warns Taxpayers 🛑

The Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) President, Ali A. Rahim, has issued a strong warning for taxpayers — don’t share your sensitive tax information with unauthorized return filers!

🚨 What’s Happening?

With the rise of online “tax experts” and social media return filers, many people are unknowingly handing over their CNICs, bank details, and income data to unverified intermediaries. These fraudsters can misuse your information for:

đź’¸ Financial theft and fraud

🧑‍💻 Identity misuse or fake tax filings

âš– Legal trouble if your data is used in illegal activities

🧾 Who Can Legally File Your Return?

According to the Income Tax Rules, 2002, only registered professionals are authorized to file returns, including:

âś” Chartered Accountants (ICAP)

âś” Cost & Management Accountants (ICMAP)

âś” Legal Practitioners

âś” ACCA (UK) Members

âś” Registered Income Tax Practitioners

🔍 Be Smart – Verify Before You Share!

Always confirm the credentials of your tax consultant or intermediary. Sharing data with unauthorized people means giving away your financial secrets — and once leaked, it can’t be undone.

đź’¬ KTBA Chief Ali Rahim advises:

“Protect your data. Only deal with trusted, registered tax professionals — your information is as valuable as your income.”

📢 Spread the word! Help others stay safe from online fraudsters this tax season
